April is National Humor Month! Here's Some Humorous Jewelry & Paintings

I am a Metalsmith, not a Writer.  I have a writer friend, Agnes Franz, who is completing a book called, "What's So #$%!# Funny?"  She finds humor in even the dreariest of situations.  I love to talk to her cuz' she always makes me laugh.  If you have a funny anecdote you would like to share, she may publish it in her book.  And, of course you will receive full credit for your story.  Share your humorous anecdotes with her here.

Since April is National Humor Month, here are some some jewelry and paintings that have subtle "tongue-in-cheek" humor.  Perhaps you will find them as entertaining as I do.

Sarah Doremus' Jewelry pieces are extremely clever and have a pointedly humorous view of what some folks consider "serious" subjects.  Like her "24K Bracelet" that has 24 carrots set in gold.  Or, her "Screwed" ring.  (I can't describe it, but you'll laugh when you see it.)  Sarah's kinetic sculpture is ingeniously constructed and has some funny elements too.  Take a look.  I particularly like the "Queen Elizabeth Wave" ring and the "Self Congratulatory" ring.  (Sarah's slide program is in a format that is not possible to pull individual photos for this post.)

Diana Madaras' paintings capture poignant moments that can be heart wrenching, but she also has a lighter, funky style that evokes fun and cheery moments in the animal world.   Like "Pig Malion,"
"Ewe II" and
and "Funky Cow Medina."

If you have witty, tongue-in-cheek jewelry or paintings that others will enjoy, please share them with us to celebrate National Humor Month.

We all need a good laugh in these rough economic times.

Warmly, from Tucson, AZ (it's 80 degrees!)
